 Teaching Kids to Quilt

Kid-ify Sewing Machine

  • Attach a seam allowance guide made from a piece of masking or electrical tape 3-4" long in a clearly visible color so the children can easily line up the patches for a "perfect" seam allowance.
  • "Doctor" your foot pedal so it will be impossible for the machine to sew too fast. A pink eraser cut to the right size and taped under the end of the pedal will stop it from going down beyond a certain point. Experiment to find the range of safe sewing speeds.
