Kick 'em, throw 'em or hit 'em, but please join the fun!

This is the eighth pattern Quiltmaker has published in support of Project Linus, an organization that provides handmade blankets for seriously ill or traumatized children. Balls play a happy part in childhood for boys and girls in every culture and in every time period, so have fun making yours as creatively as you please. Learn more about Project Linus at projectlinus.org or by writing to Project Linus, P.O. Box 5621, Bloomington, IL 61702-5621.

Everyone is invited to contribute to this worthwhile project in any of these ways:

  • By January 29, 2007, make and send row 1's and/or row 2's, with all foundation papers removed please, to Quiltmaker Project Linus, 741 Corporate Circle, Suite A, Golden, CO 80401. Local quiltmakers will meet and sew them into crib quilts.
  • Take blocks or rows to a local chapter near you and help sew them into quilts on Make-A-Blanket Day, February 17, 2007.
  • Make a quilt and send it to a Project Linus chapter or to Quiltmaker by March 30, 2007, for local distribution.
Please let others know that the complete pattern for Play Ball is available at quiltmaker.com/patterns. All seven of the Project Linus patterns from years past are posted there as well.

This year's design was created by Theresa Eisinger, QM Graphic Artist and mom to four boys. She's spent her fair share of time at ball games.

Complete directions for Play Ball! also appear in Quiltmaker January/February 2007 (No. 113). If you cannot find this issue at your local quilt shop, order back issues at www.VillageQuilt Shoppe.com.
