QM Patterns: Turtle Toy

 Instructions

Step 2 Making the Turtle Shell

From a third fabric, cut four 11" circles; cut two 7" circles of fusible interfacing.

Center and fuse the interfacing to the wrong side of two of the fabric circles.

Pair two circles right sides together, one with interfacing and one without. Sew 1/4" from edge, leaving a small opening. Clip the curves and turn right side out. Sew the opening closed. Repeat for other two circles.

Pin shell halves together with turtle body inside, placing pins along the sides of turtle and leaving openings for the head, tail and legs. Be careful not to pin the shell to the body.

Remove the turtle body and set it aside. Using a ladder stitch, join the two shell halves where pinned .

Put the turtle back in its shell.
