Quilt for Kids
Stitching Some Comfort
Quiltmaker readers never fail to amaze us! When we put out our call for Play Ball blocks the response was enormous. Row after row and quilt after quilt arrived in the mail in time to be finished during our Project Linus Make-A-Blanket Day.

Note from Brenda
We're always pleased to be joined by Project Linus founder Karen Loucks Rinedollar (left) on our Make-a-Blanket Day. She thanks you all for what you do for 'her kids'.

We invited local quilters to spend the day with us stitching, quilting and tying quilts. Many who came had been here all seven years that we’ve held this event. It’s so heartwarming to pitch in and know that these cuddly quilts will be going to at-risk kids. Over 100 quilts were delivered to the local Project Linus chapter in Denver, where they will be distributed to hospitals, fire stations and police stations.

Project Linus is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization with a mission "to provide love, a sense of security, warmth and comfort to children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need through the gifts of new, handmade blankets and afghans, lovingly created by volunteer blanketeers." Project Linus founder Karen Loucks Rinedollar and her husband spent the day with the volunteers.

A special thanks is due to our generous event sponsors. Husqvarna Viking sent 20 sewing machines for the day via Wallace Sewing Chalet of Boulder, Colorado and Ruth’s Stitchery of Colorado Springs, Colorado. Moda Fabrics provided hundreds of yards of fabric to complete the quilts and The Warm Company sent us wonderfully soft batting.
